Imaging Technology

Xenogen Corporation holds the exclusive license under U.S. patent numbers 5,650,135; 6,217,847; 6,649,143; 6,890,515; 6,908,605; 6,916,462; 6,923,951; 6,939,533; 7,198,774; 7,255,851 and other pending applications relating to methods of non-invasive, biophotonic imaging across a wide range of wavelengths and specifically including light generated by bioluminescence and fluorescence. Purchasers of Xenogen's imaging systems typically require sublicenses to practice the technology covered by these patents, which are necessary for the practice of biophotonic imaging. Patents are pending worldwide for this technology, and have already issued in the European Union, Japan, the People's Republic of China, and other countries. Xenogen owns other patents related to sepsis models, expression cassettes for creating light-generating bacteria, and biophotonic methods for screening angiogenesis modulating compounds. Access to those proprietary patented in vivo biophotonic imaging technologies and associated biological products is available only through a commercial-use license or academic license from Xenogen Corporation.

Certain of Xenogen’s LPTA® animal model lines and Bioware® cell lines are produced under licenses from Promega Corporation and The Regents of the University of California. Please see the applicable product page for a description of the terms of purchase.

Transgenic Technology

Xenogen Biosciences holds a license under several technologies for producing genetically engineered animals:
