Evaporators - Evaporation / Concentration

Extraction or concentration is an important step in the sample preparation process. Prior to analysis by advanced instrumentation such as LC\GC\MS most samples require some type of concentration step. This is traditionally done by evaporating the samples, thus concentrating it prior to the analysis.

Evaporation and concentration of the samples is important to achieve maximum results. The higher the concentration of the sample the better the results will be when the sample is analyzed. Traditional methods of sample concentration such as Kuderna - Danish or rotary evaporation techniques are very time consuming and inefficient.

Caliper Life Science's TurboVap family of evaporation systems cover's a wide range of formats from micro plates to tubes. The TurboVap's patented nitrogen gased based vortexing technology allows for fast and efficient concentration of any sample up to 500 mL. The TurboVaps unattended operation frees up resources and improves quality control and are in routine use in thousands of laboratories. Additionally, TurboVaps are used in a variety of industries worldwide including environmental, pharmaceutical/biotech, clinical, food and beverage, chemical, and forensic.

TurboVap Evaporators

The TurboVap Family of nitrogen gas based evaporation workstations (evaporators) consists of four models. Each model serves a different need in the area of sample preparation.

The TurboVap LV Concentration Workstation is a high speed, small volume sample concentrator. It is an efficient alternative to the inconvenient setup, constant monitoring and long evaporation times that are characteristic of conventional techniques - with the added convenience of unattended automatic operation. The TurboVap LV Workstation offers many interchangeable tube racks giving you the flexibility to process different sample volumes effectively. Most racks can hold up to 50 samples with volumes of 1.5 mL to 30 mL.

The TurboVap II Concentration Workstation is designed to work with one piece of glassware with 6 positions supporting samples from 50 to 200 mL in size. It is small enough to fit on a benchtop with no hood space required. The unit offers a patented Sensor Endpoint which will keep the sample from evaporating to complete dryness and offers the user unattended operation. The TurboVap II has user friendly displays and diagnostics. It has a controlled waterbath that is adjustable from ambient to 99°C. The units fast evaporation is based on the TurboVap's Patented Vortex Shearing Technology, which creates fast, efficient evaporation of samples.

The TurboVap 96 Concentration Workstation is a high speed concentrator designed to work with 96-well microplates and deep-well plates. It is an efficient alternative to the constant monitoring and long evaporationtimes that are characteristic of conventional techniques - with the added bonus of unattended operation.

The TurboVap 500 Closed Cell Concentrator is an excellent alternative to traditional rotary evaporators used in organic syntheses. With a 500 mL solvent capacity and water bath temperatures up to 99o C, synthesis mixtures are processed quickly using Caliper's patented "vortex shearing" principle. The unique vortexing action maintains the components of interest in the solvent during evaporations and minimizes the "plating" of the compounds on the vessel walls. The open top cylindrical design of the sample tube, with a small stem at the bottom, provides an easy way to recover the products of interest when the evaporation is completed. With two cells in one unit, you can improve the efficiency of your lab and minimize use of valuable bench or hood space.
