ABI 7900 and Twister® II Plate Server for RT-PCR


Applied Biosystems™ (ABI) 7900HT and Caliper's Twister II Plate Server for Real-Time PCR applications


In collaboration with Applied Biosystems, Caliper Life Sciences has developed a complete plate handling solution for the 7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR system.  This integrated, hands-free automation platform was designed to meet the ever-increasing productivity needs of today’s high-throughput genomics laboratories.    

The flexibility of the 7900HT system accommodates any RT-PCR project need with its user-interchangeable thermal cycling block formats that include standard 96- and 384-well formats, a novel 384-well TaqMan® Array and Fast 96- and 384-well blocks for significant run time reduction.  Caliper’s iLinkPro™ scheduling software can integrate multiple 7900HT systems with the Twister II Plate Server for unattended, walk-away operation.  The software also supports integration with a preparative liquid handler, like Caliper’s Zephyr® and Sciclone® workstations, creating a complete solution for sample processing and reaction setup. The 7900HT and its suite of chemistries combined with the advanced automation capabilities of the Twister II Plate Server supports RT-PCR applications such as gene expression, SNP genotyping, pathogen detection, viral load analysis and miRNA quantitation.
