CDAS - In Vivo (Overview)
Caliper Discovery Alliances & Services (CDAS) target and compound evaluation programs represents a battery of research solutions that enable pharmaceutical companies to reduce costs while accelerating the pace and clinical relevance of drug discovery research. Caliper’s strategy is to provide its customers with access to novel products, services and applications for addressing those pressures within the pharmaceutical industry to identify new, effective drugs while minimizing the risk of adverse effects associated with those drugs.
The in vivo drug development program offers highly specialized and customized programs for in vivo target and compound evaluation. This CDAS unit has a long and respected track record in the design and production of genetic modifications in animal models using pronuclear microinjection and/or gene knockout/knockin techniques, and breeding services. To date, CDAS has produced over 9,000 unique transgenic mice/rats from over 3,000 transgene constructs. More than 97% of all transgene or targeting vector constructs have successfully produced transgenic mice/rats, or gene knockout lines, respectively. In sum, CDAS offers the biomedical community a long-proven and integrated array of genetically-modified animal creation and characterization capabilities.
Using existing mouse or rat animal lines created in our facility or elsewhere, CDAS offers additional platform technologies, all customizable and designed to facilitate the identification and validation of therapeutic targets, the identification of new potential indications for such targets or compounds and the early detection of potential side effects associated with such targets or compounds. We offer greater than 85 pharmacological assays which provide readouts on nearly 500 parameters/data points.
