Cross Therapeutic Assays
Automated Clinical Blood Chemistry and Hematology (Five Parts Differencial Cell Count)
Alterations in the cellular and chemical composition of the peripheral blood are indicative of the overall health status of an animal. In addition, changes in some proteins and metabolites and in the cellular repertoire of the peripheral blood are relevant to specific pathological conditions.
Urine Chemistry
The kidneys play a fundamental role in maintaining the normal balance of fluid and electrolytes, regulation of blood pressure and excretion of metabolic waste products. The basic urine chemistry panel includes creatinine, total protein, nitrites/nitrates, pH, osmolality, calcium and the electrolytes sodium, potassium and chloride. These assays provide an assessment of overall kidney function and general insight into the physiology of genetically engineered or pharmacologically manipulated mice.
Body Weight and Organ Weights
Basic morphometric parameters, such as body weight and individual organs weights, are informative in evaluating the overall effect of a genetic manipulation or a compound on the development of the entire organism as well as its specific organ systems. In addition, these parameters may provide supporting information valuable for assessment of specific pathological states.
Histopathology of Selected Tissues
Caliper Discovery Alliances and Services utilzes various protocols for tissue preservation to enable future histological and histochemical evaluations. Histopathological and histochemical studies are outsourced to third party vendors.
