MDA-MB-231-luc-D3H1 Bioware® Cell Line
Overview
The MDA-MB-231-luc-D3H1 Bioware® Cell Line (P/N 119261) is a light producing cell line derived from MDA-MB-231 human adenocarcinoma cells by stable transfection of the North American Firefly Luciferase gene expressed from the SV40 promoter. Selection Marker: Zeocin (Sensitivity: 0.05 mg/ml).
Tissue: Human: adenocarcinoma, mammary gland, pleural effusion
Parental Line Source: American Type Culture Collection
Bioluminescence In Vitro: Approx. 150 photons/sec/cell, subject to imaging and culturing conditions
In Vivo Models Tested:
Nu/nu (Harlan): mammary fat pad with lymph node metastasis,
Nude-beige (CR): mammary fat pad with lymph node metastasis, lung metastasis model (intravenous injection)

Applications
The MDA-MB-231-luc-D3H1 Bioware® Cell Line (P/N 119261) can be used in vivo to establish an experimental model of lung metastasis (intravenous injection) and orthotopic mammary fat pad model with local lymph node metastasis. Bioluminescent imaging detected tumor cells throughout the experiment.
