HT-29-luc-D6 Bioware® Cell Line

Overview

The HT-29-luc-D6 Bioware® Cell Line (P/N 119264) is a light producing cell line derived from HT-adenocarcinoma cells by stable transfection of the North American Firefly Luciferase gene expressed from the CMV promoter. The in vitro and in vivo growth of the cell line seem to be slower when compared to the parental cell linegrowth. Selection Marker: Neomycin (G418 Sensitivity: 0.1 mg/ml).

Tissue:  Human: adenocarcinoma, colorectal

Parental Line Source:  American Type Culture Collection

Bioluminescence In Vitro:  Approx. 25-40 photons/sec/cell, subject to imaging and culturing conditions

In Vivo Models Tested:
Nu/nu: subcutaneous
SCID-bg: subcutaneous with some metastasis to lymph nodes and lungs

Applications

The HT-29-luc-D6 Bioware® cell line (P/N 119264) can be used in vivo to establish subcutaneous tumor models and subcutaneous tumor models with metastasis (SCID-bg mice).

NOTE: This light producing cell line is not recommended for colon orthotopic injection or implantation.

Bioluminescent imaging detected tumor cells throughout the experiment; measurable tumors may be calipered after two weeks of subcutaneous growth. In vivo imaging revealed metastases in thoracic region, axillary/brachial lymph node, and lung, in 30-80% of mice, which was confirmed by histopathology.
