p53-RE-luc/A549 Reporter Cell Line
Overview
Designation: p53-RE-luc/A549 Reporter
Tissue: Human: carcinoma; lung
Source of Parental Line: ATCC (#CCL-185)
Description:
This reporter cell line can be used to detect apoptotic activity following exposure to chemotherapeutic agents. p53, a known regulator of apoptotic activity in response to DNA damage, is frequently mutated, absent, or modulated in tumor cells. A luciferase reporter vector that contained p53 response elements upstream of a minimal TK promoter and the luciferase structural gene (p53RE-luc) was used to detect activation of p53 pathways by bioluminescence through transfection of human lung carcinoma cell line A549cells (p53wt) with p53RE-luc.
